Weave & Woven
Weave&Woven is a playful exploration of the sacred.
What does home mean? How can we belong? How do we create space for ourselves and for beloved community – especially in a time of heightened racism and xenophobia? In a 2-week residency at NURTUREart in 2018 and in partnership with Sadhana, we explored home and belonging through interactive art. We created a play-space through ribbon in mehndi-inspired designs (designed by Anjali Deshmukh & installed by hand!!!) and wrote poems from Purvi Shah’s Miracle Marks on the walls. Drawing upon Hindu concepts of lila (cosmic play) and the feminine divine, we invited folks to write on the walls and dance raas with us. We built community through participation and play.
